Ultra Music Festival Under Attack,

Sign Petition to Support Ultra Music Fest

https://www.change.org/petitions/city-of-miami-commission-keep-ultra-music-festival-in-miami
Since its inception in 1999, Ultra Music Festival has garnered millions of attendees from throughout the world to Ultra’s home in Miami, promoting the City of Miami as one of the world’s leading epicenters for electronic music and global live entertainment. In 2013, Ultra Music Festival’s economic impact resulted in an infusion of $223 million into the local economy.

Ultra Music Festival has been a launching pad of numerous prominent musicians’ careers and uniquely showcases virtually every major genre of electronic music. Some of the world’s most cosmic artists today once performed on a small stage at Ultra Music Festival. That tradition is now in peril.

Recently, certain City of Miami officials have called for an end to Ultra Music Festival at its current home of Bayfront Park in downtown Miami. In order to stay at Bayfront Park we need your support now.

The vast majority of our attendees are law-abiding music fans that travel to Miami to enjoy our beautiful weather, diverse culture and world-class entertainment. Not unlike other large-scale sporting or entertainment events, Ultra has regrettably had to contend with a few isolated incidents. Certain local politicians have capitalized on these isolated incidents to undeservedly vilify electronic dance music, its industry and its international fan base.

As a responsible event promoter, Ultra Music Festival employs best practices that are security-centered and adopts and implements significant protocol to ensure the safety of our patrons and personnel.  Each year Ultra Music Festival works collaboratively with our municipal partners, including the City of Miami, the City of Miami Police and Fire Departments, the Bayfront Park Management Trust and their respective administrative offices to ensure the safety and security of the event.  This year, event organizers and the City of Miami jointly agreed to deploy 257 police officers per day, 49 more per day than in 2013, including the following:

– The deployment of 28 additional police officers per day around the perimeter and inside the event;

– The deployment of 18 undercover detail officers, including Homeland Security and DEA officers;

– The deployment of 12 additional bike detail officers per day; and

– The deployment of “G8” (8 foot, high-level security) steel fencing surrounding the venue, which was further supplemented by additional chain link fencing and police barricades surrounding the venue.

Ultra Music Festival is conducting a top-to-bottom review of its security protocol and continues its long-standing commitment to the security and safety of its patrons and personnel.

Please sign this petition to indicate your support of Ultra Music Festival as a catalyst for economic activity and key promoter of the City of Miami’s reputation as a top entertainment and leisure destination.

Winning both the Ibiza DJ ‘Best Ibiza Track 2008’ and the Beatport ‘Best Tech House Track 2008’ award for his Man With The Red Face collaboration with Mark Knight, Funkagenda was also presented with the Ibiza DJ ‘Best Newcomer 2008’ and Dj Mag best break trough artist 2009 awards for his solo achievements. Authenticity and originality are his trademark, establishing Funkagenda a solid reputation as a innovative DJ/producer.

Funkagenda’s sound attracts musical partnerships a spectrum of genres, remixing artists including Basement Jaxx, Moby, Fat Boy Slim and Dirty Vegas. His production contributions to the Black Eyed Peas album ‘The E.N.D.’ were further recognised by an ‘Album of the Year’ nomination and a ‘Best Pop Vocal Album’ award at the 52nd Annual Grammy’s.

Funkagenda’s first solo album was released on Toolroom Records in October ‘09 under the Toolroom Knights banner, consolidating a growing portfolio of success. Since the dominoes started to fall, Funkagenda has been a firmly fixed name across global music charts, regularly achieving Beatport No1 and Top 10 positions.

But in essence, Funkagenda’s deeply personal DJ sets and production have built the boy from the Black Country a rising international fan base. Accumulating fierce support both on and off the dance floor, from industry to individuals, Funkagenda continues to charge across the battlefields of dance; as a DJ, a producer and a fervent contributor to the world of music.

///////////////////////////ABOUT OUR GUEST///////////////////////

– DEEPAK SHARMA –
So often in life, the best things are not immediately obvious. Surrounded by mediocrity, their appeal is irresistible upon closer examination. New York City’s Hidden Recordings has exemplified this enduring truth since its founding in 2006. The brainchild of Deepak Sharma and his production partner, Dieter Krause, Hidden Recordings began as a platform for the enterprising duo’s releases and in 2008 expanded into releasing the work of a gifted, international cohort. Because the imprint’s focus has always been on releasing top notch techno, its patient, quality-based approach has earned Hidden Recordings the support of renowned and diverse talents such as Adam Beyer, Marcel Dettmann, Seth Troxler, and legions more.

While techno is undoubtedly the thread that binds together Hidden Recordings’ discography, the fabrics and patterns it connects are numerous. Their releases come alive in big room clubs, yet are just as effective on the terrace at 6 AM – sending dancers off into the world grinning at what they’ve just heard. That diversity also means you can hear Hidden Recordings’ tracks at nearly any point in a long night out. In kind, its catalog unites a broad assortment of DJs: Adam Beyer is known for dropping the unrelenting, cavernous boom of Alejandro Trebor’s “Quemadura del Sol” at Berghain and Fabric, while Seth Troxler licensed DJ Qu’s deeply hypnotic remix of Sharma & Krause’s “Wolkenreise” for his The Lab 03 mix CD on UK house label NRK.

In 2012, Hidden Recordings pursues a demanding release schedule that draws in new talents, such as Plankton, M.A.D.A., Alejandro Trebor, Mike Wall, Bodyscrub, Dolby D, Tom Eirh, and Spark Taberner. Throughout the year, these latest signings’ tracks will embody the darker, expansive techno sound the label is pursuing. Their originals are paired with remixes by a host of respected producers, including Jerome Sydenham, Mark Broom, Xhin, Alex Bau, Roberto Bosco and Kyle Geiger. When a Hidden Recordings release catches DJs’ attention, they want to share it with audiences and their peers. Word-of-mouth endorsements have lent the label an organic momentum that shows no signs of slowing down or drying up. And with bright newcomers and established leading lights maintaining a prolific pace, Hidden Recordings won’t stay hidden much longer.
