EDM Insider Guide to Miami Music Week 2015

For some, March is just the month after April. But, for dance music lovers around the world it means one thing: Miami Music Week. From March 24th-30th, 2015 dance music agents, managers, fans, and most importantly, artists, flock to Miami’s sun-kissed venues for a week of non-stop EDM action. Poolside events during Miami Music Week are always filled with rare, one-of-a-kind moments you only find in Miami each March. Spring is in the air, but also inspiration amongst all different styles of DJs coming together in one city for a week filled with new music to forecast the upcoming festival season within the United States.

With so much going on, it’s easy to get overwhelmed when selecting which parties to attend and which to pass on. That’s where EDM Insider comes in. Our staff combined has attended a total of 15 Miami Music Weeks filled with music, mayhem, memories, and our fair share of party mistakes. There is nothing worse than sitting on a plane ride home with all your friends and hearing stories about the party you should have and could have been in attendance for.

To help you from making those mistakes, we at EDM Insider have created a list of our top party picks for Miami Music Week 2015. Since everyone has a different sound that makes them tick, we’ve included a variety of musical options per day.

Keep dancing, and most importantly, keep discovering.

*Note: Parties listed by date and alphabetical within those dates

WEDNESDAY MARCH 25

DJ Mag Poolside Sessions

Location: Surfcomber Hotel, 1717 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach FL

Time: Day

Ticket Link: http://goo.gl/t26Sam

DJMagPoolParty2015

Every year there is one party that really kicks off the Miami Music Week festivities. For us over at EDM Insider, that party is DJ Mag’s annual Poolside Sessions. Returning to South Beach’s Surfcomber Hotel, DJ Mag’s 2015 Poolside Sessions lineup will feature some todays biggest names in dance music.

The daylight hours will have more of a techno and underground house sound to them with performances provided by Seth Troxler, Kolsch, Patrick, Topping, and Amine Edge & Dance. As night falls, DJ Mag plans to turn up the tempo with Dimirtri Vegas & Like Mike, Dyro, Dannic and DVBBS taking to the decks. This is definitely one of the most diverse talent lineups you’re going to encounter in Miami —and since MMW is all about expanding your dance music horizons, we highly suggest checking this one out!

Loco Dice + Marco Carola (Marathon Set)

Location: Space Terrace, 34 NE 11th St, Miami, FL

Time: Night

Ticket Link: http://goo.gl/9KMsBm

Loco-Dice-+-Marco-Carola-at-Space-Club-Miami-2015

There isn’t much the EDM Insider team could say about dance music legends Marco Carola and Loco Dice that hasn’t already been said. Alone, these two artists are forces to be reckoned with. However on the Wednesday of Miami Music Week, these two world-renowned producers will be coming together for a special back-to-back marathon set on the Terrace at Club Space.

Over the last two decades, Marco Carola’s driving and groove-infused techno sets have made one of the most respected, and in-demand DJs on the planet. His label, Music On, and now notable Music On parties, have gained recognition around the world for always striving to push the boundaries of dance music. Loco Dice’s unique brand of techno will certainly add a dynamic element to the party, which comes on the heels of his recent record-breaking New Year’s Eve party at the Miami nightclub. To ring in 2015, Loco Dice performed for an incredible 24-hours straight at Club Space, even forcing the club to offer free entry to accommodate the length timeframe. There is no doubt in our minds that this Marathon set is going to break some records of its own, don’t miss out!

Spinnin’ Sessions 2015

Location: Nikki Beach, 1 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach, FL

Time: Day/Night

Ticket Link: http://goo.gl/dCwJSG

spinnin sessions 2015

It’s impossible to think about electronic music without thinking about powerhouse dance label, Spinnin’ Records. With that being said, it’s also impossible to have a proper MMW without attending one of the labels highly anticipated parties. For the last 3 years, Spinnin’ Sessions has become a fixture of music and memories during the weeklong festivities and we’re thrilled to see heading to Nikki Beach this year. In addition to hosting an all-star lineup, The Dutch imprint raises the bar with this party presenting two distinct areas: a Spinnin’ Records area and a Spinnin’ Deep area.

With all of the label’s head honchos performing and seven mystery guests (yup, seven), there is no doubt in our minds that the 2015 edition of Spinnin’ Sessions won’t disappoint. According to the recent press release, DJs include Dubvision, Julian Jordan, Michael Calfan, Danny Howard, Sam Feldt, Chocolate Puma, Watermät, Sander Kleinenberg, Tony Junior, Gregor Salto, Jay Hardway and Eelke Kleijn will all be there, with more names will be announced soon.

THURSDAY MARCH 26

Above & Beyond: We Are All We Need

Location: Mana Wynwood, 318 NW 23rd St, Miami, FL

Time: Night

Ticket Link: http://goo.gl/y4FJ3y

we are all we need miami 2015

Fans of Above & Beyond have only one chance to catch the beloved trance act during Miami Music Week this year. Bringing the We Are All We Need album tour for an exclusive stop at Mana Wynwood in the downtown Miami area, Above & Beyond are bound to make this one of the most talked about shows throughout the rest of 2015.

Besides what’s sure to be an emotional set from Above & Beyond, fans can expect a diverse range of all-stars from their Anjunabeats label. Ranging from the uplifting sounds of Super8 & Tab, the progressive hymns of Ilan Bluestone and the deeper grooves of a back-to-back set from 16 Bit Lolitas and Lane 8, this party will feature a unique collective of artists you won’t want to miss.

As if that artist roster wasn’t enough to satisfy your musical taste buds, enter special guests Seven Lions and Fehrplay. While these two acts could not be more different, this announcement could not be more exciting. Fresh off the release of his The Throes of Winter EP release, Seven Lions will showcase his artistic versatility yet again at Mana Wynwood, always managing to effortlessly blend genres and blow minds. Pryda Friends artist Fehrplay never fails to take people on mesmerizing journey in his live sets. Recently, Fehrplay dropped a preview of his forthcoming track “Lotus” releasing soon on Anjunabeats and it’s truly beautiful. If this single is any indication of what his set will sound like at Mana Wynwood,  you’ll want to be there front and center.

ALL GONE PETE TONG POOL PARTY

Location: Surfcomber Hotel, 1717 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach FL

Time: Day/Night

Ticket Link: http://goo.gl/2fS2u1

all-gone-pete tong 2015 miami

This is the 8th edition of this highly anticipated Miami pool party, and as always, it is sure be a highlight of the week. A living legend himself, Pete Tong’s Essential Mix series on BBC Radio 1 features some of the biggest names in dance music of a variety of genres and styles. His star-studded event during MMW is known for highlighting some of these all-star musical talents and this year’s rendition is no exception.

This year’s lineup will feature performances by Andhim, Disciples, Deep DishDuke Dumont, Hot Since 82, Nic Fanciulli, Ricohsei, Skream and Thomas Jack, with special guests to be announced at a later date. In addition, Pete Tong teamed up with rapidly rising UK duo Gorgon City for the latest installment in his All Gone series. All Gone Pete Tong & Gorgon City Miami 2015 will be released March 22, 2015 on Defected Records.

Big Beat Pool Party

Location: Delano, 1685 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach, FL

Time: Day

Ticket Link: http://goo.gl/l7fsps

big-beat-friends-miami-2015-phase-1

On the Thursday of Miami Music Week, Big Beat Records will be bringing it’s annual Big Beat and Friends Pool Party to the Delano Hotel. Their label is home to some of the biggest names in dance music, and while the full party lineup isn’t announced yet, we have no doubt it’s going to be a must-be-at event.

So far, recent GRAMMY® winners Clean Bandit are slated to perform at the poolside bash, along with Cash Cash, Galantis, and Hercules & Love Affair. This last year has certainly been one for the record books for Big Beat, and now it’s time to celebrate, and you’re invited.

MIXMASH Miami Pool Party

Location: National Hotel, 677 Collins Ave, Miami Beach, FL

Time: Day

Ticket Link: http://goo.gl/ZBp6uO

mixmash pool party 2015

So the lineup for this party isn’t announced yet (as of March 2), but we at EDMInsider couldn’t make a proper MMW party guide without including this annual event. Returning to the National Hotel in Miami Beach, Laidback Luke’s Mixmash Records pool party has become a staple during Miami Music Week each year.

In addition to a performances by Laidback Luke himself, past editions have featured label friends and dance music favorites Sandro Silvia, Blasterjaxx, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, and Deorreo. While purchasing tickets for an event where the lineup isn’t announced yet can be a risky move, we advise grabbing yourself one before it’s too late. Known worldwide for his energy-filled Super You & Me party, Laidback Luke is a man who takes his events seriously. And if you don’t want to take our word for it, Wantickets has already labeled the event as “high sellout risk.”

 FRIDAY MARCH 27

Disclosure Presents: Wild Life Miami

Location: Thompson Miami Beach, 4041 Collins Ave, Miami Beach, FL

Time: Day

Ticket Link: http://goo.gl/g6mWqE

Wild_Life disclosure miami

As a stand alone event this party would be classified as “not-to-be-missed,” but it’s actually the ending party to a soon-to-be two-day Miami Music Week domination by Disclosure. Following a nighttime performance at Soho Studios in the Wynwood Arts District on Thursday, March, 26 alongside Justin Martin, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, DJ EZ, and Carl Craig, the world-renowned duo will be taking over the Thompson Miami Beach for a not to be missed daytime (and nighttime) bash.

On Friday, March 27, Disclosure, Kevin Saunderson, Felix Da Housecat, Just Blaze, Claude VonStroke, and Jonas Rathsman, will perform for a combined eleven hours of straight musical pleasure. If you’ve never caught a Disclosure Wild Life show, then this party is just the introduction the doctor ordered. And if you miss it, well don’t say we didn’t warn you about the plane ride home….

Toolroom in Stereo

Location: National Hotel, 1677 Collins Ave, Miami Beach, FL

Time: Day

Ticket Link: http://goo.gl/Ww06sM

TOOLROOM-in-STEREO-Party-2015-w-MARK-KNIGHT-CHUS-+-CEBALLOS-line-up

When it comes to flawlessly combining the sounds of house and techno, there is just no label that does it like Toolroom Records. Having caught label head and Grammy-nominee Mark Knight at various shows throughout the U.S., we can honestly say his performance each year at Miami Music Week goes unmatched. There is something so incredibly unique and captivating about venturing down a musical rabbit hole of dark house while dancing in the Florida sunshine.

Joining Knight will be a diverse roster of dance music talents including Chus + Ceballos, Umek, Prok & Fitch, Technasia, Dosem, Adrian Hour, Rafa Barrios, and Weiss. This is the perfect party to explore new sounds and expand your dance music boundaries, which is exactly why the EDM Insider team believes it should be a necessary stop on your Friday adventures.

Pryda Miami

Location: Club Space (Terrace), 34 NE 11th St, Miami, FL

Time: Night:

Ticket Link: http://goo.gl/kxFsbG

Eric Prydz Miami 2015

During last year’s Miami Music Week festivities, Eric Prydz made jaws drop by doing a special back-to-back set with EDM’s most notorious figure, Deadmau5. The party was one of the biggest highlights of the week and certainly set the bar high for what Prydz would bring to the table in Miami 2015. On Friday, March 27, Pryda Miami will land at the Terrace at Club Space for a night, and early morning, of what is sure to be sheer dance music genius.

Our team members at EDM Insider who were lucky enough to catch his 3-D infused performance at the world-famous Madison Square Garden in New York City this past October were blown away by his craftsmanship (as usual). The full lineup for the highly anticipated showcase will be announced soon, but we suggest grabbing tickets for this event as soon as possible.Prydz is also slated to perform a set at Ultra Music Festival on Sunday, March 30 during Armin van Buuren’s annual installment of A State of Trance at theMegastructure.

SATURDAY MARCH 28

Anjunadeep in Miami 2015

Location: Cafeina Wynwood Lounge, 297 NW 23rd St, Miami, FL

Time: Day

Ticket Link: http://goo.gl/SlZVMU

anjunadeep miami 2015

Given it’s impressive list of accomplishments, it’s hard to believe that the Anjunadeep imprint is only 10 years old. Since it’s inception in 2005, the label has boasted over 200+ successful releases, and continues to receive ongoing support from some of the biggest players in the dance music scene such as Pete Tong, Annie Mac, Sasha, and Eric Prydz. A fan of the now world-renowned tech-house duo Dusky? Well, meet the label that helped break them.

The EDM Insider team are big fans of both the Anjunabeats and Anjunadeep imprints because they consistently sign forward-thinking dance talents. This is one of those parties during Miami Music Week that isn’t just great for dancing, but great for discovering. Featuring performances by Jonas Rathsman, Lane 8, Jody Wisternoff, Cubicolo, James Grant and Dom Donnelly, Anjunadeep’s 2015 Miami showcase at the Cafeina Wynwood Lounge will be filled with the freshest beats from a label that always keeps us grooving.

Gareth Emery w/ Pete Tong + Tuskegee (Seth Troxler B2B The Martinez Bros) Afters

Location: Club Space, 34 NE 11th St, Miami, FL

Time: Night

Ticket Link: http://goo.gl/4bh3sW

gareth emery pete tong space miami 2015

We at EDM Insider love this party because of its diversity. Get to Space around midnight and enjoy 5 hours of the progressive house sounds of dance music heavyweight Gareth Emery. Hot off the heels of his “Drive” North American tour, appropriately named after his 2014 “Drive” album, Gareth’s performance at Space on Saturday night will his second of Miami Music Week and he’s sure to impress.

Around 5 AM, the vibe takes a sexy turn when dance music legend and living iconic Pete Tong takes to the decks to perform. Be sure to grab a Redbull during his two-hour set because the night, or should we say morning, is long from over. Around 7AM, techno craftsman Seth Troxler will be going back-to-back with the Martinez Bros for a special early morning set.  In our opinion, this party really does provide audience members with a little bit of everything thats good in dance music. So now the real question comes, how long do you think you can last?

SUNDAY, MARCH 29

Anjunabeats in Miami 2015

Location: The Raleigh Hotel

Time: Day/Night

Ticket Link: http://bit.ly/1x2qNjc

anjunabeats-miami

After the Anjunabeats event during last Miami Music Week, the EDM Insider team was sold on returning for year two before even hearing an announcement. The music released through the Anjunabeats label always tends to have an ethereal melody and unparalleled sound. Looking at the official lineup for the 2015 showcase, it’s an undeniable melting pot of progressive.

The legendary Gabriel & Dresden, GRAMMY® nominated Audien, rising star Jason Ross in addition to a one-of-a-kind back-to-back set with Ilan Bluestone and Maor Levi and more will all take over The Raleigh Hotel on Sunday, March 29. The diverse artist roster seems to be the perfect recipe to result in become the party of Miami Music Week 2015.

MK & Duke Dumont: Blasé Boys Club vs Area 10

Location: Mansion

Time: Night

Ticket Link: http://bit.ly/17UiE4b

mk duke dumont mansion miami 2015

To close out Miami Music Week 2015, dance music heavyweights MK and Duke Dumont will be throwing a special Blasé Boys Club vs Area 10 party at Mansion Nightclub. The event, which will feature performances by MK, Duke Dumont, Kevin Saunderson and Jonas Rathsman, is sure to prove why these boys are not to be messed.

MK, short for Marc Kinchen, has long stood out as one of the most versatile producers in the dance music world. He’s worked with artists such as Jay-Z, Pitbull, and Rihanna, and all the while has still maintained his credibility and roots in the underground dance music scene. Over the last year, MK has worked to re-launch his Area 10 label and it is certainly not to be missed when this meets with wunderkind Duke Dumont’s imprint Blasé Boys Club in Miami (Disclaimer: EDM Insider is not responsible for any missed Monday morning flights.)

Mark Knight & Friends

Location: Set
Time: Night
Ticket Link: http://bit.ly/1MDzeom

mark knight & friends miami

We’re still buzzing over the live sets from Toolroom artists such as Mark Knight, Subb-an and Adrian Hour during The BPM Festival 2015 in Mexico this January. Mix those artists in with the sounds of Second City for the Miami Music Week 2015 closing party at SET, and you have yourself a winning event. Whether or not you’re attending Ultra this year, Sunday night is the last opportunity to let loose on the dance floor before heading to the airport.

The unannounced special guest slated to join the festivities draws extra intrigue as to what will go down during the Mark Knight & Friends party. However, the current lineup is enough to draw in hundreds of fans drawn to the signature dark, tech-house sound. If there’s one lesson you’ll learn throughout attending Miami Music Week, it would be to always expect the unexpected. And that’s one piece of advice we would give specifically for the Mark Knight & Friends event.

Dirtybird MMW Closing Party

Location: Steam

Time: Night

Ticket Link: http://bit.ly/1MEhQOu

dirtybird 10 closing party miami

Dirtybird lovers rejoice. A celebration combining the end of Miami Music Week and the 10 year anniversary of the record label, who could ask for more? Taking over STEAM Miami, this party will inevitably get steamy from the special back-to-back sets from Claude VonStroke and Justin Martin, Shiba San and J.Philip as well as Ardalan and Christian Martin. With that many b2b sets, there’s no telling what’s what’s in store.

Sure to be spanning a decade of deep vibes, the Dirtybird MMW 2015 Closing Party is a prime example of an ‘only in Miami’ lineup that will keep attendees talking for months to come. Get your tickets before this one sells out!

AUDIO INJECTION:
After being introduced to electronic music back in the early 90’s in Los Angeles, David Flores was hooked. At the age of 15, he started DJing at all over Southern California at underground warehouse parties, desert parties, and massive raves. His style then was as varied as the local scene – a myriad of sounds ranging from house to acid to techno to hardcore.

After a few years on the DJ circuit, he began releasing original music , which landed on labels such as Monoid, Stimulus, 4 Track & LA label Droid Recordings. His association with this local label and event production group Droid Behavior began in 2003 and continues 11 years later where you can still find him as a resident at the infamous Interface warehouse parties alongside Drumcell and Raiz. In addition to Droid Recordings, a full schedule of releases and remixes have proceeded on CLR, Sleaze, Electric Deluxe, 50 Weapons, Theory, and Blankcode.A rigorous international tour schedule has followed, including included stops at the most prestigious venues and events, including Berghain in Berlin, Fabric in London, The Movement Festival in Detroit, Womb in Tokyo, and Output in New York.

In early 2011, he started a project called ‘Truncate’ which focuses on the deeper, more raw side of techno. His Truncate releases have been gain support from big players such as Modeselektor, Ben Klock, Marcel Dettmann, Chris Liebing, Speedy J, DVS1, Luke Slater, Ben Sims and many more.

DRUMCELL:
Drumcell was born as Moe Espinosa in Los Angeles’ San Gabriel Valley. Far away from the glamour and glitter of Hollywood, he cut his teeth growing up in a vibrant, culturally diverse neighborhood that still breeds inspiration for his work. San Gabriel Valley is also where he and the Raíz brothers, Vangelis and Vidal, met and founded Droid Behavior in the early 2000s which lead to the infamous Interface warehouse series.

Drumcell has played at numerous prestigious venues worldwide, from Berlin ́s techno mecca Berghain to the main stage of the Movement festival in Detroit. His label Droid Recordings and his own releases have captured the attention of many of the world’s top Techno jocks. From here, Drumcell is ready for a whole new chapter of what he is best at and what matters most to him in life – the manifestation of truthful emotions in futuristic sonic concepts.

Ultra Music Festival Under Attack,

Sign Petition to Support Ultra Music Fest

https://www.change.org/petitions/city-of-miami-commission-keep-ultra-music-festival-in-miami
Since its inception in 1999, Ultra Music Festival has garnered millions of attendees from throughout the world to Ultra’s home in Miami, promoting the City of Miami as one of the world’s leading epicenters for electronic music and global live entertainment. In 2013, Ultra Music Festival’s economic impact resulted in an infusion of $223 million into the local economy.

Ultra Music Festival has been a launching pad of numerous prominent musicians’ careers and uniquely showcases virtually every major genre of electronic music. Some of the world’s most cosmic artists today once performed on a small stage at Ultra Music Festival. That tradition is now in peril.

Recently, certain City of Miami officials have called for an end to Ultra Music Festival at its current home of Bayfront Park in downtown Miami. In order to stay at Bayfront Park we need your support now.

The vast majority of our attendees are law-abiding music fans that travel to Miami to enjoy our beautiful weather, diverse culture and world-class entertainment. Not unlike other large-scale sporting or entertainment events, Ultra has regrettably had to contend with a few isolated incidents. Certain local politicians have capitalized on these isolated incidents to undeservedly vilify electronic dance music, its industry and its international fan base.

As a responsible event promoter, Ultra Music Festival employs best practices that are security-centered and adopts and implements significant protocol to ensure the safety of our patrons and personnel.  Each year Ultra Music Festival works collaboratively with our municipal partners, including the City of Miami, the City of Miami Police and Fire Departments, the Bayfront Park Management Trust and their respective administrative offices to ensure the safety and security of the event.  This year, event organizers and the City of Miami jointly agreed to deploy 257 police officers per day, 49 more per day than in 2013, including the following:

– The deployment of 28 additional police officers per day around the perimeter and inside the event;

– The deployment of 18 undercover detail officers, including Homeland Security and DEA officers;

– The deployment of 12 additional bike detail officers per day; and

– The deployment of “G8” (8 foot, high-level security) steel fencing surrounding the venue, which was further supplemented by additional chain link fencing and police barricades surrounding the venue.

Ultra Music Festival is conducting a top-to-bottom review of its security protocol and continues its long-standing commitment to the security and safety of its patrons and personnel.

Please sign this petition to indicate your support of Ultra Music Festival as a catalyst for economic activity and key promoter of the City of Miami’s reputation as a top entertainment and leisure destination.
