We hope you enjoy this new musical journey at the nations capitol as much as we have putting it together.
FEDERICO SCAVO:
Few names have stood the test of time in House music like Federico Scavo. The resurgence of House music in recent years has spawned a new generation of names that have moved aside many legends, but Federico is one of those rare talents that is just as relevant and exciting now as he was when the genre was nothing more than a baby. Over his career, he’s twisted and refined his sound through Tech, Electro, Funky, Deep and Tribal formats, never losing the ‘Scavo Sound’ – but consistently remaining one of the front-runners for new innovation and ideas as House music has developed.
In the booth – Federico is an imposing act – a master of his craft with an extensive knowledge and depth to his musical library that’s incomparable to any other DJ in the business. Decades spent refining his style and gathering the experience needed to be truly world class has resulted in something special – every Federico Scavo show is stuffed with a diversity and character that’s unmistakably his own. Federico’s tour schedule is never-ending and full of the most prominent names in House music. His journeys have taken him to Ultra Music Festival Miami, Ministry of Sound London, Footwork Toronto, Ruby Skye San Francisco, Ku De Ta Bali, Dragon-i Hong Kong, Pepper Club Shenzen, Cavo Paradiso Mykonos, Carpe Diem Croatia, Alsina Buenos Aires, Lollipop Tirana, Nikki Beach Miami, Waterland Festival Helsinki and hundreds of venues in-between. Still finding the time to hold down a residency at Wall in Miami, Florida – Federico’s work as a DJ is never done.
In the studio, Federico has worked his way through a discography that’s seen his consistently chart-topping releases showcased on the likes of Ultra, Toolroom, Spinnin, Tiger, Great Stuff, X Records, Pacha, Hotfingers, Ego, Azuli and just about every major authority in the world of House music. No less than twenty plus years deep into his journey through the music he knows, loves and now leads – the Federico Scavo sound is still setting the levels for the newer generations of House music. Keeping at the top of this game takes more than just hard work and talent, but whatever the formula is – Federico’s still taking down number one spots on the likes of Beatport and iTunes – a testament to his class and an example for any aspiring DJ/Producer.
Born close to Florence, Italy – Federico’s surroundings were rich in culture and art, undoubtedly an influence towards his artistic development. Hardworking and driven in his infancy – a budding Federico Scavo took to music at a young age and made an informed decision at an early stage that music would be a world he’d devote his life to. Through years of early development, it was as New System that Federico first tasted true success as a musician. Inspired by the electronic music of the early nineties and a life surrounded by music of all forms, the Italo sound was the dominant style of the time and in 1994 ‘This Is The Night’ shot to international recognition achieving platinum status in Canada, racking up over 400,000 sales and clarifying Federico’s belief that there was a life and career for him in creating music. New System enjoyed a year of success on the back of their hit with X-Energy Records but it was the underground that was calling for Federico, who made sure even his commercially successful releases were packaged with ‘Underground’ and ‘Tribal’ versions – proof that right from the start his heart was with the underground from day one.
Following his success with New System – several years of refinements and experimentation saw Federico establish himself as not just a songwriter, but also a fully qualified and technically sound producer with a total understanding of his craft. In 2002 Hot Coffee presents Pink Coffee released one of the year’s breakthrough tracks ‘Another Brick In The Wall’ – an accurate modernisation of the Pink Floyd classic that was approved by Roger Waters and beamed around the world via MTV and the multitude of DJs that had the track in their top selections of the year. Federico’s successes as a producer and DJ naturally steered him towards other areas of the industry, most notably as a label owner. In 2004 Coffee Killer and Shibusa Records were launched and artistically directed by Scavo, with both labels enjoying many years of consistent releases that ensured the underground was well stocked with the best in new and innovative House music. Bringing through new talents and sounds has always been a duty that comes with success and is one that Federico takes seriously. His Area 94 imprint has become a hotbed for the best in organic House music since its inception in 2007 and boasts over one hundred releases that have helped to break through the likes of Josh Feedblack, Giacomo Tosi and Luca Guerrieri, whilst also calling on some of Federico’s most infamous associates including Alex Kenji, Crazibiza and Phunk Investigation to name but a handful.
Through the digitalisation of Electronic music over the last ten years – Federico has remained at the forefront of the global House movement, ensuring his status, as a kingpin in the industry is a permanent fixture. With 2014 already boasting releases with the likes of Toolroom, D:Vision and Tiger Records – the work rate never ceases and why would it? Federico is still on top of the world working a relentless international diary of DJ shows and educating the new generations of underground House music with his hypnotic and captivating shows and productions. The stars of tomorrow will continue to emerge, but the beauty of House music is in the respect and understanding of the importance of its roots – something Federico is unmistakably a focal contributor to.
