☼ SGS | Season 4 | Episode 10 – Louie Loco Bday Event

We have reached our half way mark to the season, and cannot THANK our FAMILY and FANS enough for getting us this far. Your boundless support to our Sundays only to lead to hungover Mondays is greatly appreciated. Come join us as we celebrate RITO LOCO’s own LOUIE LOCO’s BDAY here on the terrace. He was one of the original cofounders to SGS so we thought it proper to make this party even bigger with a Double Booking for all to enjoy.

– SAEED YOUNAN the original resident returns to our ROOFTOP. A guaranteed good time, just watching and listen to Saeed work a room and build momentum. As DJ Mag puts it “Saeed Younan is one of the few DJ’s that really know how to serve it up well”. No surprise why Carl Cox picks Saeed Younan as his go to DJ, for his Las Vegas residency and has invited him back for the 2nd year to play his arena in numerous festivals.

– Along side him will be Berlin’s new sensation WANKELMUT. Who became a global star almost overnight thanks to the release of his amazing ‘One Day/Reckoning Song’ remix. His name comes from a phrase which is rather unknown outside of Germany, it is actually a way to describe Yin & Yang, black & white, up & down etc. Opposite alternatives that seem to fit his open minded character very well and also be found in the way that he as DJ likes to touch a lots of different kinds of electronic dance music.

☼ We invite you back to something familiar, fun and for a great cause. SUNGLASS SUNDAYS, a locals rooftop party in the the heart of DC. Comprised of musicians, artist and locals in our community. A day for friends and family to enjoy some of the most premiere talent in the underground scene all working together as one.

☼ Once again we have teamed up with ONE SIGHT, http://www.onesight.org/na/donate/donate_eyewear/ A charity that takes donated sunglasses to recycle into prescription eyewear for children in need. So if you have a pair of sunglasses or eye glasses that are broken and old, bring them to help the less fortunate. Now we can enjoy a great day with amazing music and know that we are changing peoples lives.

[ WANKELMUT ]

For his 24th birthday, in December of 2011, the Berlin DJ Wankelmut aka Jacob Dilssner added his sound-cloud touch to his bootleg remix of Asaf Avidan. Under the name „Reckoning Song / One day“, the title conquered the charts and, according to the Media Control Single Charts, reached 1st place, and the double platinum status in Germany. The legendary remix was placed number one of Single Charts in eight European countries. It was the most downloaded track of Beatport 2012 and an Airplay Hit all over Europe. Looking back, 1,5 million Singles were sold, and it was played 150+ million times on Youtube.

Wankelmut, who had played until then in Underground Berlin Clubs, was widely booked within Europe. In particular the diversity of his entertaining music between Deep-House and Techno that Wankelmut presented as performing as a DJ, helped him to obtain a respected and recognized status within the German electronic music and the DJ industry. At the end of 2012 the famous Electronic Music Magazine GROOVE distinguished him as the „Newcomer of the year“.

During 2012 he developed a closed relationship with the renowned Berlin label „Get Physical Music“, with whom Wankelmut started in the fall of 2012 his own Mix-Compilation-Series „Wankelmoods“, and in January 2013 released his Club Single „My Head Is A Jungle“. Wankelmut obtained for this title the collaboration of the Australian singer and songwriter Emma Louise. With the remixes of Gui Boratto, Kasper Bjorke, Billon and Solee, this title was not only a Club-hit in Europe, but was also placed in the Top 20 of the Single Charts of many European countries. The „MK Remix“ of „My Head Is A Jungle“ done by the legendary US House producer Marc Kinchen was during the summer of 2013 one of the biggest hymns played on Ibiza, the support of Pete Tong and many other DJ´s provided for abundant Wankelmut fever within the UK and the USA. Since the track never went out of focus of media, Djs and listeners it entered the official UK Single Charts at #5 in August 2014.

In the second half of 2014 the Vol. 2 of the Wankelmoods Mix Compilation was released alongside another single “Wasted So Much Time” feat. the American singer John LaMonica, an active as a member of the group Robots Don´t Sleep. The original track and the great remixes by Kölsch, N´to and Kiwi made this release another club hit in the books of Wankelmut. Towards the end of 2014 Wankelmut started to do remixes again and has successfully reworked tracks by Lenny Kravitz, Röyksopp, Talisco, Karin Park, Hozier, The Writers Block and most recently he finished his great interpretation of “Down To Earth” by Flight Facilities.
In 2015 another full on Wankelmut single release will see the light of the day alongside extensive DJ touring all over the world.

MARTIN BUTTRICH:

Martin Buttrich is famously as fluent behind a mixing console as in front of a virtual drum kit. That technical prowess, combined with a fascination for music of every shape, has resulted in outstanding releases on influential labels such as Planet E, Four:Twenty, Cocoon, Poker Flat, Nervous and Desolat. He’s also put his sonic thumbprint on many big ticket artists, notably receiving a Grammy nomination for a Tori Amos remix in 2003. Such diverse musical horizons are rare. While other prolific artists may have slowly watered down their music, Buttrich’s star has risen in diametric opposition. His vision has become more and more condensed, more and more crystallised. Flipping and puncturing grooves in a live setting is a snap for him, and he’s entranced audiences at festivals like Time Warp and Creamfields, at temples of boom such as Fabric (London), Womb (Tokyo), Cocoon (Frankfurt), Panorama Bar (Berlin) and Amnesia (Ibiza) and at worldwide Desolat Experience parties with Loco Dice.

A key musical partnership, with Loco Dice, begun in 2002, undoubtedly inspired Buttrich to delve deeper into the musical histories that first lured him towards after-dark melodies. In a short space of time they’d built up a deep discography creating an era-defining sound in the process. They spent more than half a year living in New York in 2006/2007, with half of Buttrich’s studio set up in a rickety hideaway in Brooklyn that looked out over Manhattan’s vistas. Between late night production sessions and snowstorms, their Desolat label came to life.
Having his debut solo album Crash Test released on Desolat in early 2010, Martin Buttrich is taking his vision to the road, fusing wild imagination with solid musical architecture, cherry-picked inspiration with true perfection of his musical craft.

Since then constantly on tour, in 2011 Martin Buttrich still has dropped a remarkable collection of music – productions like “Fire Files” EP on Desolat or remixes for Marco Carola and Lee Curtiss amongst others.
Currently based in LA, Martin Buttrich is working on his second artist album and a jazz project called The Stoned Autopilot.
Stay tuned.
